The brushless flugboot made from EPP.
Also know as hydro foam, flugboot, land water and air 'vehicle'. It is
catamaran shaped boat, plane, all in 1.

Update: ebay webshop hobbyhaus offered to replace the
weak and bad accu.
The model stops (with fresh and full lipo pack) after 20 to 30 seconds, can not
call that RTR. It sounds nice, but hobbyhaus did not gave carson the order to
send us the replacement accu. Be warned, this model unbee 160 is old, and
rc model maker carson does not have it on it's own site no more...
It is big, it has all functions, a trainigs setting,
optional attachable wings (span is 160 centimeters then !)
And even a top rpm cutt off setting also for training and longer lasting flights,
but less 'vertical' and thus speed.

Measurements: length 780mm - wide 470mm (1600mm with trainer wings) - Hight 200mm
We bought it at webshop hobbyhaus on Ebay for 140 euro all in, so this one came from Germany to Holland aka Netherlands.
It is sold as a RTR, ready to run rc model, but not
entirely.. The vertical back-flaps need to be installed
by owner. And that has it's scary moments, all is very tight pressed together
and with 'air' between some parts of 1 side to the other for foam to be inserted.
The 11.1 v 1300 mah lipo battery / accumulator was already full
according to the also in this package delivered charger / balancer.
So we did take a look at the servo and on/of sequence of this rc model, let the
motor spin just ehh when it starts to spin a bit.
The big propeller wants even then to take the rc model front and away, promising...
To set the
verticals, you have to seperate the whole boat, the 2 sides from the horizontal middle.
And be VERY carefull since the flap rod has the wide of the boot when it is in 1
piece.
We did it, but it was not an easy task.
Electrical,
servo's, receiver, motor, (outrunner brushless, 945 rpm per volt) all that is installed.
Did we flew it, or did a test run on water? not yet, to much wind and rain on the
day of arrival.
And since the foam is covered with a hard plastic shell upfront, we will not run
it on asphalt, that will cause scrathes.
Perhaps one day when we know the model it will get some sort of teflon slidepart
and tape under it to 'be scratched and worn out instead of the original hull'

Negative :
Again, today, 2th try-out, the fresly , fully charged li-po accu died within
20-30 seconds. No 'boating' or flying possible.
To bad in EU this kind of " RTR " may be sold...
Update: 23 juni 2008, frisse volle accu, veel water en weinig wind. Helaas, net
na los komen van het water slaat unbee 160 diens brushless 945 rpm volt motor
af.
De BEC red de accu, die dus te zwak blijkt. Heel erg dat een bedrijf zo een
product mag verkopen alszijnde RTR, ready to run...
Today Sunday 1 june 2008, North-wind, 2 meter per second, we tried(!) to fly it.
When this unbee
boat/plane came in, the accu / battery / accumulator was full, so said the lipo
charger, 3 green LED's.
We know that because after checking if al parts where in box, the carching was
planned. Even after some running in the motor at lets say 10% of stick throttle
for a minute, on charger again, 3 green LED's...
LiPo can be stored for a longer time with full charge, so when we hooked it up
on the balanced lipo charger, and it gave 3 LEDs, indicating 'full' we believed
it and where positively surprised. 3 green tot start with, and even 3 green
after a little juice use.
Now when we went
to ourr fly/boating zone, some members said: it does not sound like it has a lot
of kick.
With no wings we did a boating line for setting the steering vertical flaps. It
did not went fast.
Than... motor
stopped.... It has to when lipo goes under a set power voltage.
This was an allmost empty lipo to start out with!!
GLAD the wind came straight in at where we stood. Shoes off, long stick, in to
the side of pond, and we got it.
